Howl: British poets read and respond to the work and life of Allen Ginsberg

A unique evening of poetry celebrating the release of the motion picture “Howl” at the Poetry Café. A indelible influence on poets across the globe, this evening will be a chance to see how the poetry of Ginsberg has permeated into the consciousness of generations of poets coming to prominence after his death. The night will see readings directly from the text of Ginsberg as well as original works written for the occasion.

it was the seventh shade of grey
the one that melts
I as you thaw

I thought to take bristle brush
across to wash smooth
but the shade was simpler

it is nine at night
we are clearing
we think on curves and straights

we measure
we try to say the wave
in as few words as possible

lest our vibrations flatten it
we tiptoe in and sift through
a hand
on weaker water we would’ve
stayed separate..... gently
